Making Sense of Product Spectrum

And Corresponding Roles

These days I am trying to make sense more of the product spectrum, in fact roles associating tech and non-tech in such areas. I found quite a few roles are available there…

• Product Designer — who is mostly the person liable for design
• Product Manager — who creates the vision for the product and manages its continuous delivery
• Product Owner — I assume Product Owner is quite similar role to Product Management, but have a little bit more autonomy, control over things, everything in product life cycle.
• Business Analyst — I am quite confused about Business Analyst roles as I have seen a lot of companies have been using it for different purposes such as in my last two jobs I found its a blend of Project Management, Solution Design, Product Management and Implementation Management, in fact only one guy was responsible for all of these tasks. Also while I was interviewed for these role in other companies I found the job description of Business Analyst varies a lot, sometimes mostly tech focused and in others its mostly business oriented. And right now I feel like I do not really know what does it means anymore.
• Project Manager — This post is becoming obsolete day by day as tech guys often don’t take PM’s seriously and believe PM’s do not have much skin in the game in Product Spectrum, I have seen a lot of complaints about these. Also there is huge stigma around PM’s in the tech industry that they bring more bureaucracy rather than efficiency and speed.

Anyways for the time-being I have decided to sell myself as Product Manager/Project Manager and Data Visualisation roles in freelance market place Upwork.

I have some prior clients in the platform and track record of making some money. Now I am trying to build a portfolio and sustainable way of making impact there.

I don’t know what will happen, but All I can do is to try, right? Without any expectations, I cannot control the events, outer world, All I can do is to control myself, my activities.
